Default Armor "Bag"

There should be a separate "bag" for different sets of armor, considering there are 4 types of armor for elementalists especially. This "bag" should only hold armor that YOU can wear, not customized for other people, with about 15-20 slots.

That means if you have all the headpieces and armors, you will end up with pyro, hydro, aero, geo. If you have a different headpiece for each, then that would be 5 pieces of armor (head, chest, leggings, glove, boot) laying in inventory per type of protection, or 15 slots wasted just for armor.

Similarly, if your warrior has gladiator's, platemail and ascalon (no idea why you would buy this, considering fur squares are so expensive), then there would be 10 slots wasted.

Rangers may have studded leather, druid's, frostbound, and Drakescale. That's 15 slots wasted again.

Monks may have a couple sets as well, such as ascetic, wanderer, judge's/censor's. That's another 10 slots.

Necros may have a couple sets (considering statistically there is only 2 types) Necrotic/Tormentor and Cultist/Bonelace. For a total of 5 slots.

Mesmers have Enchanter's, Rogue's, Virtuouso (pointless, like all the +15AL while casting). That's 5-10 slots.

In short, if you have more than one or two characters with multiple sets of armor, the space taken in yor inventory is atrocious. They should ease this by making an armor-specific "bag" for armor that you swap into depending on the situation.

This should be bought by players at an merchant NPC for about 100 gold (or whatever they decide is appropriate).

EDIT: Perhaps there should be a armor bar like the weapon bar, to ease armor swapping.

*Prevent armor from being salvaged in the armor "bag", and moving armor to the regular inventory has a warning dialog.

I don't see much use, especially with my Mesmer's Armor. The difference between the types isn't significant enough to warrant having more than one set. Warrior armor only looks mildly different and the stats don't seem to be too varied. I can't comment on ele, ranger, or necro armor though... my opinion is formed from seeing armor up to and including drok's

I think it's a good idea. It won't affect the gameplay at all so there's no reason why anyone should say it's a terrible idea.

Plus all those rich armor collectors would have a place to keep their armor and still have room in their Storage for their 500 ectos!

Mesmers only have 2 choices: +10 Physical or energy +15 while casting isn't viable since you have FAST casting. You are right, but only for mesmer's armor. And warrior armor differs greatly. 80+10vs. physical reduces damage and 85+10 vs. physical are not the same as 80+20 vs. physical and energy.

How about when you need different sets for different situations? What if you have one set for each weapon (axe/sword/hammer)? How about when you are fighting physical mobs only? Platemail seems stupid then doesn't it?

And my storage vault is full with stuff I use and/or need to sell but don't have time to. I have multiple headpieces for my ele. to swap between healing/offense (with each element). I plan on multiple armors for my necro in case there is smiting.

Actually, for mesmers there are 4 types:

Enchanters armor (extra energy)
Casting armor (+15 AC while casting - and no, Fast Cast doesn't eliminate the need - my mes can cast constantly for quite a while with echo and energy stealing)
Rogues armor (+10 vs physical - seems to be popular in pvp)
Normal armor (including collectors)

There is a trend among mesmers to mix one piece of +15 while casting armor with the rest of the enchanters/rogues set.

I *do* agree with the OP, since all the spell casters I know have become clothes horses, devoting significant storage space to different outfits. A closet just for armor would be divine.

This is an awesome idea, because I know my Ele has all four of the ascended armors (15k) and it really sucks to carry this around, plus I don't want it in storage.

No reason to wear normal/collector armor except for look.

Heh, I don't think they intended for us to have everything in the game to our satisfaction. We have low inventory slots for a reason, to keep people from "hording" items. Heh, I've already made two mules out of two of my characters so I can store stuff and continue to play my main and then one pvp character. It's soooooo hard to let go of some items I know. And there are soooooo many collectors resource items that drop (gawd if only good stuff dropped as much as collector resources).

I'm pretty happy with one set of gear, I have no need for vanity items myself. I guess if you're into that it might be a storage problem for the very few. I keep two head gear pieces one for sword mastery one for axe mastery and switch them out as I need them.

And fur pieces are soooo easy to get all you have to do is make a run through Diessa Lowlands and that one zone to it's NE full of charr and you'll have tons of charr hides you can trade in for fur. Now Leather for Knights armor that's what's hard to come by. So I have ascalon boots for my dmg reduction global bonus.

Somewhere they were hinting at having different clothes intown than the armor you wear outside. Perhaps different armor sets could be worked into this somehow? There'd have to be limits, but I don't see why having additional space for an extra set of armor would hurt. But I haven't seen a case where you need to have many sets of armor aside from the looks.

I know a warrior that keeps three sets of gloves with the respective weapon mastery runes in them. It's a tradeoff for him, but it allows the use of tactics/strength in the headgear.

It's true, all storage problems can be traced back to a desire to keep items beyond their immediate use. Even the frog has told us to better manage our inventories to alleviate the apparent need for extra storage.

I still stand by my support of the OP, as I do like the aesthetic variety that multiple clothing sets can bring to the game.

And one more thing about armor: For the next campaign, I expect we'll see the opportunity for making a fashion statement increasing in a bunch of ways, including what you wear in town and into battle, and in seeing a difference between the two.

Dunno if that directly relates to this thread, but I wanted to throw this out there.

I wouldn't mind the idea. All my PvE characters have lots of differnt armour for differnt builds. (My ranger has no set seccondary, i change it so he can run over 10 differnt builds.

It would be nice.

I'm not sure i agree with quickchanging armour though. I change out of my druids to drakescale if i see smiters and studded if i see spikers if i have the chance. Being able to hotkey this i could really be a pain in the arse.

I don't have a big problem with the amount of armor pieces as I can put it in my Xunlai Storage, but I do agree on the armor bar.

Since people have different builds they might need different armor, but it is also usefull for people who like to wear festival hats: it would be much easier if you can just push a key to get different armor instead of always havind to opening your inventory.

/signed.

My monk has 3 different complete sets of armor and 5 different headpieces. My backpack is filled entirely with armor, weapons, and candy canes... all stuff that I use frequently.

Maybe have the armor crafters store your armor for you like a festival hat maker?

This idea would be helpful and beneficial.

Anet's goal is to provide a quality service in gaming that meets the needs and wants of its consumers. That in turn produces revenue in sales of its games, and other products bought within the gw store (ex. character slots, unlock kits). I would think that creating personal unlimited or expanded armor storage would harm the need for people to purchase additional character slots. I know it sounds harsh, but that is what makes the game unique and enjoyable. If ANET granted total ease to the aquisition of character levels, material items, special weapons and skills, it would make the game un appealing to the majority of people who play it. So providing ample storage in the way of armor storage is more complex to employ than just being a good idea.

I would have no problem keeping my armor in storage or on a mule account except for one thing... it's difficult to move around.

My storage has scrolls, keys, and items to exchange for id kits as these are what I use most frequently. It allows me to grab what I need for any region I might be in without switching to a different (mule) character to get them.

Space in my storage vault box is a premium. I need what I can get so that It's easier to move things to my mule. I don't want to have to make more than two or three trips to move things around.

I'd buy an armor storage mule if there was some feasible way to get the armor off him without logging out. It would suck when you're an Urgoz team and they want you to switch from MM to BiP and you have to leave the group & log out to get it off your mule. Annoying and time consuming.

I personaly think that you should be able to buy more storage in the in-game store or something of that sort.

They're called character slots. Give them bags and suddenly you have two more Xunlai tabs.
